Medieval House
The medieval house is known as the "oldest house of Cividale" or "home of the goldsmith". In fact, this construction, dated mid-second half of the 14th century, was to house of a goldsmith's workshop.
The current three-story structure seems to be the original one, while doors and windows have been modified and expanded, except for the window on the first floor where the medieval tradition places the administrative office of the shop.
The house is not born from an autonomous project but reuses a previous stone structure, most likely a tower as they bring to light the well-squared regular stone courses, present on the right external wall of the building.
Inside there is a fragment of medieval sculpture belonging to a pillar or a cimasa and reused here.
Currently the medieval house houses a goldsmith's shop, thus recovering its original function.
